THURS. 3/2 – Graduate student Kevin Paulsen presented his research in microfluidics with Professor Chung to ASME members at the general body meeting. His research revolves around using UV lights to polymerize 3D shapes on the micro and nano scale. The talk included an explanation of the science behind microfluidics, the different types of experiments going on in his lab, and what they plan to research next. Thanks to everyone who came out and to Kevin for giving the talk.
THURS. 10/26- Three ASME members gave presentations about their internship experience over the previous summer at ASME’s Internhsip Panel. Josh Bostick talked about his time at GE Power, Scott Merrullo spoke about Raytheon, and Frank Charbonier talked about Sandia National Laboratories. Important talking points included their projects, the working environment, finding housing, and how to get an internship. After the presentation, the speakers stayed behind to answer questions.
THU. 4/7 – ASME was happy to host Dr. Laura Hudy of GE Power, where she is presently the manager of the Equipment Applications Engineering team. She works and has had experience in a variety of different engineering applications coming from Michigan State University. As she shared, Dr. Hudy has conducting research while partnering with NASA before joining the General Electric team.
